Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, “let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” (NKJV)
From the prior verse the disciples were obviously busy with crowd control and the busyness of being ministers. In their good intentions they were trying to make sure their Master was well taken care of. And so when some of the parents brought there children for Jesus to touch them and bless them. The disciples were sending them away saying the Master does not have time for children. After all He had more important things to do, like heal the sick, raise the dead. And from there we get this verse, “let the children come to me, and do not forbid them.”
In Marks gospel it says that Jesus actually was displeased with the disciples for sending the children away. For He says of such is the Kingdom of heaven.
There are so many children in the world, which Jesus loves, He hates to see the misuse and abuse and the abandonment of children. He hates it when they cannot come to Him. Because He so loves all the children in the world. So He gave each and all of us and especially those of the Christian faith a job. And that is that the children would be brought to Him. But how can I do that since Jesus is in heaven and we are here on earth?
There are ministries and Churches, there are orphanages, and by simply supporting and helping as best as you can you are making it possible for children to come to Christ. Maybe God has called you to step out and go somewhere where the name of Jesus never even been heard of. Maybe God is calling you to go help at existing orphanage, on a long term or short term mission. Or maybe God is asking of you to financially support an on going work. So whatever God is asking you to that you should do, because by doing nothing you are hindering the children from coming to Jesus.
I determined not be one of those people who never did nothing. I decided I was at least going to do something.
So at least do something!
